Calamine – Dreamy Pop
Whilst at Digg, I found an article about how London and New York will be underwater by the year 2100. This reminded me of that show on Adult Swim, Sealab 2021. Then I started thinking about the words to the theme song, but I could only remember “at the bottom of the sea…” So then I looked up “Sealab 2021 theme” on google, and found the official Calamine website! They’re the band that did the theme, and they offer a free MP3 of it for download! Pretty cool how stream of consciousness web browsing works, huh?
They’ve also got some other clips of their songs too. The singer has this cool sultry voice, and the music is in a new genre that they define as “Dreamy Pop.” I especially like the song “Trampoline,” though I wish the clip was longer. They seem like a fairly indie band, so maybe I’ll buy their CD.

Japanese Catch Up Time!
So during my basketball band absence, I missed a lot of class. In fact, I almost forgot which room one of my classes was in when I came back. Seriously. Anyway, I’ve got tons of Japanese homework to make up, so here I am, writing a blog about it!
Actually, I’ve already done 2 of 6 required homeworks, and my brain is pretty much dead. Learning languages takes quantity studying, not quality. That is, it’s better to study Japanese 3 times for 20 minutes than once for 60 minutes. So I’m gonna slowly catch up.
Also, I don’t think our teacher really cares if I turn stuff in somewhat late. She didn’t even realize I wasn’t there on Monday! Of course, she also routinely mixes me up with another Asian that’s in the class, so whatever. You’d think she could tell our kind apart, what with her whole field of study being ASIANS!
Am I ranting now? That means it’s sleepy time!

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass = Friggin Zelda DS!
Today Nintendo announced a new Zelda title for the DS! It’s called The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, and it looks friggin’ sweet!
I’m really glad they decided to make an actual new game instead of doing a port from The Ocarina of Time or something. The game looks to be in the same style of Windwaker. So far, the video shows the gameplay utilizing the Nintendo DS’ stylus quite a bit. You can draw on the map, use the stylus to solve puzzles and chart a course for your boat.
I think it’s definitely a good time to be a Nintendo fan. Download the video here.

Tetris DS = In Stores!
Whoa, Tetris DS is out! How’d I miss that one!? I should really get it, considering it got like, super awesome scores from everyone in the world. Unlike Tetris Worlds.
This one has a bunch of new modes, and apparently they’re good. I’m up for some Tetris action, so I think I’ll be getting this game shortly (and playing it longly (ha!)). In other news, nested parentheses are kind of bad in writing (but okay in scheme (and ML)).
I need a good “staple” game for my Nintendo DS that just stays in the system forever while I keep playing it. Tetris always hung out in my original Game Boy, so it seems like a good idea for Tetris DS to hang out in my DS. Although I wish they’d treat it like a retro version and sell it for $20 or something. That would be awesome.

Cooking Mama DS Demo Video
Over at Kotaku, there’s a live demo of the Nintendo DS game, Cooking Mama. I think this game is geared towards girls; It’s a cooking simulator.
In the demo, we see the various stages of cooking a hamburger steak. The onions get sliced and diced, the pan is buttered, the onions are fried, the hamburger is kneaded, and finally the hamburger gets fried in the pan. There’s also a final step with the Hamburger being decorated with side veggies (and a Japanese toothpick flag!).
I dunno about this game. I mean, we already have a freakin’ surgery game! How can cooking be more compelling than that? I could be wrong, of course. We’ll just have to see if this wacky game makes it to the US. Either that, or you could import it…
